It’s fabulous to be able to invite you all to some learning opportunities that I will be attending in the coming month!

I would like to share with you two upcoming courses which may be of use to parents, teachers or responsible adults who advocate for children. No qualifications required, simply bring your passion and interest! Individuals who have roles in support groups or Parent-Teacher Organisations may also find these opportunities invaluable.

The first course is a free open-online course about living with the diagnosis of autism. Ever wanted to increase your knowledge and understanding about autism? This course is designed to teach individuals about the day to day needs of people of all ages diagnosed with autism. With this new information, whether a parent, carer, educator or supporting professional you can problem solve on the run and support more effectively the important people in your home or work life that have been diagnosed with autism. The course is provided over 5 weeks, and the modules can be accessed on-demand online (in your own time and in your own home) for FREE! Please follow the link for further information including registration:

Ironically, after encouraging you to increase your screen time over the next month while learning about autism, the next education event is called “Tots and Tech”

The second course is a day of learning relating to young children and time spent on screen-based activities. This is a face to face event run in Canberra and Brisbane by the Australian Council on Children and the Media. There is a fee to attend the course, with concession rates available. The day of learning will cover practical advice as well as the arguments of the benefits and negatives of screen time. Topics such as screen time and sleep, language development, as well as the impact on social-emotional skill attainment are often discussed during our appointments. These topics are relevant to all children, whether they are advanced in their development, neuro-typical or presenting with behavioural or learning challenges. I look forward to discussing our newly acquired knowledge in the near future!
